Dating from 1999
In the wake of the school reform, Szkoła Podstawowa nr 18 was transformed into Gimnazjum nr 1. The current headmaster of the primary school was nominated to take the position of the principal of Gimnazjum nr 1. At the beginning seven classes were formed and the teaching staff originated from Szkoła Podstawowa nr 18.
Between 1999 and 2001 both schools functioned simultaneously at the same premises at 7 Zwirki st., until Szkola Podstawowa nr 18, dating from 1966, ceased to exist due to structural and organisational changes.
On the 1st of September,the new headmistress,Elżbieta Miedzianowska, started to officiate and chair the faculty of Gimnazjum nr 1.
In its mission, Gimnazjum nr 1 referred to the achievements of the patron of Szkola Podstawowa nr 18 – a great Pole and pedagogue. It was proposed to continue hitherto achievements by giving Gimnazjum nr 1 the name of Stanislaw Konarski - the former patron of Szkola Podstawowa nr 18.
On the 29 of April 2004 the school received its official name Gimnazjum nr 1 im. Stanislawa Konarskiego and the school flag founded by the sponsors and students' parents.
